Christianity After Religion

If you are interested in hearing more about her concept of the next great Awakening, I invite you to watch this wonderful video of Diana Butler Bass visiting All Saint's Church to discuss the book I referenced below.

The two most recent posts were about the most fascinating thing I've read on the internet ever.....
I never discuss religion with anyone as I alway concluded it was a fruitless excercise. I taught about the first "Great Awakening" in American History classes. I was stunned to read your previous post about the book and must say it characterizes exactly what I've long believed. Thank you so much for writing about it, Jayne. :)

In many ways, I've always felt as if my vision of what Christianity is and can be were sort of off the grid, and when I read this book, it fully made me feel as if I am not crazy. I've read all sort of progressive theory regarding religion, but this was the first time someone quoted statistics which back up the recent Emergent movement in our country and explained why there is such a rift between those who are striving to maintain what once was and those who see the future. I'm not crazy after all my friend! :c)

I love her statement, "... I'm going to do so gently. I wore my pearls today."

Anne, I loved that too, and would love to see her speak some day. :c)
