Wonderful, glorious bread!

Yesterday I told Sam that we'd go to O'Charley's after we visited the wonderful Dr. S and gave her an update on how he's doing. As we sat there waiting for our food, I happened to glance down at the bakset containing Sam's favorite, yummy rolls... and I laughed at what I read. I suppose I've just never paid attention to the paper under the rolls, but had to agree with the sentiments there:

"Acorns were good until bread was found."
"Without bread, all is misery."
"If thou taste a crust of bread, thou tastes all the stars of heaven."
"Let them eat cake rolls!"
"All sorrows are less with bread."

And, my favorite.... "Good bread is the most fundamentally satisfying of all food, and good bread with fresh butter, the greatest of feasts!"

I ask you, is there anything better? Like me, Sam adores bread! And yes, we did bring some rolls home with us to enjoy later!

I think good bread is wonderful. The smell, the texture, the flavor. MMmmmm

Oh, yeah...life is all about the bread! There is nothing quite so maddening in its unrelenting temptation as a house saturated with the smell of fresh-baked bread, which I suppose is why I haven't baked any in awhile :-) I also haven't been to O'Charley's in forever. I should remedy at least one of those soon!

That's it. I just woke up. I'm heading down to the boulangerie and get my morning baggette. Wait. I'm not in Paris? Well the French do make the best bread in the world. :)

...oh my gosh...this one made me laugh, "Acorns were good until bread was found." I love bread. It's one of the things I miss most (I have Meniere's Disease so limit my salt...the best bread is often high in salt!!). I used to LOVE O'Charley's rolls....

Fresh homemade bread is one of life's greatest pleasures. I think I might have to make some today. :)

I love bread. I was thinking yesterday that we are long overdue for some homemade bread in this house. Maybe this weekend I can remedy that.

Oh my, I love me some bread and butter! REAL butter, none of that "it's so kinda close it ALMOST makes me happy" kinda butter. The real stuff from real cows living on real farms. YUM! :D
(Heheh, I'm feeling a bit like Tigger this morning, must be the new snow.)

Jayne--

A couple of days ago I received a Stylish Blogger award from someone who has been visiting my blog recently. As I am sure you have received this award numerous times, I passed mine on to others, but I did want you to know I made special mention of your blog and the inspiration you have been to me in my most recent post. Consider yourself awarded, without the attendant work! ;o) mike from spindrift, maine

I've never heard of O'Charley's, but they must make great bread! When I bake bread, I like to eat a piece before it cools with some sweet butter - Yum!

BREAD! Oh, oh--one of my true weaknesses. Even though I know I should limit my intake, I can't resist good bread.
As you noted--all sorrows are less with bread.

My favourite treat is fresh sourdough bread with butter. I prefer it to cake or cookies.
