Group of bandits

Another bird that I rarely get to see at the kitchen window feeders is the Blue Jay! During the snow, I had SIX in the Crepe Myrtle doing their best to steal all the good seeds away from the regular visitors. You can't help but like them! They are so colorful and funny to watch.

Of course we like them. They are one of the few true blue colored things in nature. They are unique. They are wonderful.

They certainly have attitude! I put out a handful of peanuts yesterday and I swear, four jays had stolen them all in just a few minutes. :)

I like them, too, even if they are birdy bullies! They are truly such beautiful birds.

Wonderful pictures, as always, Jayne.

I'm still waiting for the big, beautiful Blue Jays to come to my yard. I have a bag of peanuts sitting here waiting for me to put them out and try luring them again. Aren't they beautiful? :)

This kinda made my morning! I do love seeing and even hearing Blue Jays. Surely a bird that pretty can't be ALL bad :-) Hmmmmm...that line reads like famous last words for some hapless movie character...

That first picture just makes me laugh! I think a caption contest is in order. I know blue jays are supposed to be nasty creatures, but they're absolutely beautiful, and have entertained me many a time.

Great captures! We have a lot of them here and they can get quite testy at my neighbor's birdfeeder!

I adore them too - even if they are raucous rascals. I love their size and their color and their brashness. Love love love your photos!!!

Your pictures are phenomenal, Jayne. You've even captured the expression on their faces. Aren't they gorgeous! Diane

Jayne, beautiful shots! I grew up in a place where there were Blue Jays. I always enjoyed their antics. Out here on the west coast we don't have them but have Stellar's Jays, which are loud and raucous just like their blue cousins. It's fun to watch them!

Bold and brassy, I'd say.

Jayne,

Never have taken a Bluejay photo. Your first photo is excellent! KUDOs

These are frequent visitors at our feeders and they are greedy but they're cowards, too. You ought to see them take off when a mixed flock of chickadees and Titmice gang up on them! The first time i saw it I was astounded but it's a regular occurrence lately.

Your recent bird pictures in the snow are exceptional! What a wonderful group of visitors you have had. I bet they are wondering why they bothered leaving Canada in the fall.

You got some great captures! Love the first one! The coloring and shading of the 2nd one looks a little different from what we see here - but another great capture as well!

We had a family (perhaps more) raising their young a year ago - wow were my mornings noisy! I always thought that sound was crows - now I know the sound of the Blue Jay - in my sleep!!

I LOVE Blue Jays!! Great captures!

They sure can be real characters while waiting for me to put food out in the feeder. Oddly enough - at least at this time of year, they seem quite willing to share with other birds. The real terrors at the feeder are the grey squirrels, esp one big one I call Napoleon. (Or Nappy for short).

Fabulous photos of fabulous birds Jayne! I love my bluejays and really enjoy it on weekend mornings when I can put out peanuts for them and count up to 10 at one time all perched in the same tree and waiting for their turn at the peanut feeder.
