I came home from work yesterday, and this is
what I saw IN the pool!
what I saw IN the pool!

Uh, I'd say there's no turning back now!
This was the beginning of five dump truck loads
of fill dirt being rearranged into the pool area.
Watching this guy was like watching a surgeon do robotic surgery.

After it was all spread out, this neat little remote control
operated gizmo, compacted the dirt like nobody's business!
Tomorrow, we'll get the rest filled up and then the topsoil delivered!
And, I have to report that the arbor vitae are happy and watered
in the woods while awaiting their replanting. :c)

How exciting, Jayne! I'm really enjoying watching the progress on your pool-to-garden transformation.
I'm glad to know the arborvitae are adjusting to their temporary new home. You did well to have success in such a difficult transplanting.
whoo hoo progress!! It is much easier with someone else doing it isn't it Jayne. tee hee... Love those robots. It is just amazing what they come up with.
Too sad...I just couldn't watch. Although I do appreciate a pretty garden and a nice yard.
I loved your pool but I am sure there will be a very cool landscape teeming with flowers, birds and butterflies next spring.
:)
Wow This is really something. Was there a plug in the bottom for drainage?
I agree with Colleen--when I saw the first pics you posted of the pool, I thought (as a pool owner)--what a lovely pool.
But you have explained--your family didn't really use it, Sam was disconcerted by swimming, the pool REQUIRES work (oh yes it does).
So I understand your decision to recapture a yard. What an interesting way to do it. So the framework stays, all the work around stays--but the dirt now provides the base for FLOWERS! Yowzah!
Wow!! I wondered how they were going to do that......very cool....
Woohoo!!!
Wow! How very exciting. I'm going to enjoy watching your updates here, Jayne!
Wow, this is exciting!! Can't wait to see the continued progress!
Wow Jayne... PROGRESS!!!!! I'm impressed. AND I'm glad that the arbor vitae are still doing well...
Hugs,
Betsy
I'm so glad you're posting pics! I just gotta ask: is Sam watching this? What does he think?
There ya go..now turning back! Wow..big job!
You've got your work cut out for you! Can hardly wait to see the finished product! Next year should show the true results.

I was quite impressed with the little machine, Jayne, and called my husband in to see it. As usual, it was no biggie to him. It was to me.
I'll be curious to hear how many truckloads of dirt it takes to fill your pool....er, garden!
