Oh, my! I was on my way to church yesterday
and just look what I saw in the trees at the pond
at our neighborhood entrance!
I quickly counted ELEVEN Turkey Vultures,
and then almost hurt myself doing a quick U-turn
to run back home and get my camera
with the big zoom.

and then saw this one still snoozing in the sunlight.
And this one was looking very regal (or spooky) indeed!
What a wonderful way to start my day...
soaking in God's creation.

Jayne! How cool! Lynne is going to love this... :o)
Your photos are fantastic and you were able to see their wings spread. I've never been a fan of the turkey vulture's face, but it's a majestic bird, for sure.
Jayne, I just got home from a night shift at the hospital and thought I'd relax and check my blogs- - - -THOSE TURKEY VULTURES ARE MAGNIFICEN!! Those are the best TV photos I've ever seen.
You just made my day big time! Thank you!
Fantastic shots, Jayne. I love it when I see them altogether like that. I especially love the ones who are warming and drying their wings. Amazing. So glad you did that U-turn!
Jayne, you and Mary take the best photos!!! Those vultures are terrific..(although they are not my favorite bird). The last one with his wings spread looks almost bat-like. He would look great in a halloween painting.
Wonderful pictures. I have seen large groups sitting on the river bank, but the tree group is something else. They are "magnificently ugly".
These remind me so much of my sister-in-laws!! Great pictures. xoxo Nita
Turkey Vultures are very unique birds.Love the photos!-Good job going for the opportunity while you had the chance.
such amazing shots for sure! Those guys are amazing and they never let me get that close! BRAVO
Oh Jayne, those are great TV pictures. I'm glad you went back for the bigger lens and they had all those amazing poses for you!
Wow!
The last photo of the spread wings made my heart stop for a second. Wow!!!
What a great picture...
Wow!

Vultures in horatic pose (with wings spread) are magnificent. Around sixty of them spent several months on the water tower near my father's house last winter. It was spectacular in the evening when they came from all quarters to roost.
